Green Bay Phoenix teams prepare for final home games

The Green Bay Phoenix basketball teams are celebrating homecoming virtually this year with a pair of games Friday and Saturday at the Kress Events Center.

The Phoenix women will play against UIC both days at 11 a.m. with the fifth best record in the Horizon League. The team has recovered from a rough start to the season to go 10-2 in 2021 and 11-6 overall. They swept a pair of close matchups against fourth-place Northern Kentucky last weekend, who entered the weekend 6-0 against Horizon League teams. The Flames were swept last weekend and are only 1-9 in Horizon League play this season.

The Phoenix men will play at 4 p.m. against Northern Kentucky both days. They split their pair against IUPUI last weekend, including their first-ever win against the Jaguars in Green Bay. They are in ninth place in the Horizon League as they look up at the Norse, who bring a six game winning streak to Green Bay this weekend.

Both teams will honor their seniors on Saturday, which include Josh Jefferson and PJ Pipes for the men and Caitlyn Hibner, Lyndsey Robson, and Meghan Pingel for the women.
