State champions reflect on wrestling season

All of the local wrestlers that competed in last weekend's state tournaments came home with hardware, but only Kewaunee's Jack Severin and Luxemburg-Casco's Easton Worachek came home with brackets to hang.

Both wrestlers competed at last year's state tournament at the Kohl Center only to see this year's event get split between three different locations for each division. Wrestling at 106 pounds, Worachek won his first state championship at Adams-Friendship High School. With all the different protocols in place this season due to COVID-19, he was just happy they had a season.

Severin won his second state championship at Wausau West High School at 132 pounds. The experience was certainly different with a fraction of the people in the stands from the year before. That does not mean he was lacking extra motivation.

We have more with Worachek and Severin by clicking the links at NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com. Other wrestlers to place at last week's state tournament include Kewaunee's Mitchell Thompson, Southern Door's Grant Englebert, and Luxemburg-Casco's Max Ronsman and Travis LeGrave.
