Phoenix teams split Friday night games

The Green Bay Phoenix basketball teams split their Friday slate ahead of their final regular-season games on Saturday.

In a matinee in Dayton, the Phoenix women nearly saw a 15 point lead evaporate into nothing before holding onto beat Wright State 66-62. Caitlyn Hibner scored 19 points while fellow senior Lyndsey Robson added 17 points. A win on Saturday at 1 p.m. could send the Phoenix to the top seed of the upcoming Horizon League Tournament.

In the nightcap against Chicago, the Phoenix men did see their slim lead disappear as they lost to UIC 61-58. Only four Phoenix players scored in the contest led by PJ Pipes' 17 points. Amari Davis and Josh Jefferson also reached double figures in the loss. They will also play again at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
