Gamblers win round one against Team USA

The Green Bay Gamblers will go for a road trip sweep in Michigan Monday night after beating Team USA U-18 Sunday afternoon 3-2.

The Gamblers had to make the most of their chances as they were limited to just 24 shots on goal in 60 minutes of play, including just eight after the first period. Nate Hanley and Ryan Kirwan put the Gamblers up 2-0 at the midway point of the first period before Team USA would score two straight goals to tie the game up. Jake Schmaltz broke the tie with just over three minutes remaining in the second period for what ended up being the final tally of the game. Matt Davis made 32 saves on 34 shots in the win.

The two teams will play their second game of a four-game home and home series Monday night against Team USA on Monday at 6:05 p.m.
