College basketball round-up: Marquette wins, Green Bay hosts opener

The stretch run begins for the Green Bay Phoenix as other college programs continue to find games ahead of their conference tournaments.

Marquette's last-minute scheduling of North Carolina paid dividends as they picked up the 83-70 win in the Tar Heel State. Hot-shooting gave the Golden Eagles a 45-29 lead into the break. Dawson Garcia led the Golden Eagles with 24 points while DJ Carton and Greg Elliott also reached double figures. Garrison Brooks registered 18 points for the Tar Heels in the loss.

The Green Bay Phoenix men will open their Horizon League Tournament run with a home game against the conference's newest member IPFW. The Phoenix swept a pair of games from the Mastodons earlier this season by scores of 77-59 and 87-72.  Josh Jefferson scored in double figures in both games. The game tips off at 7 p.m. with a chance to play in Tuesday's quarterfinals on the line.
