Door County Marathon delayed until October 30th

Runners will have to wait until October 30th to race competitively through Peninsula State Park this fall.

The organizers announced on Thursday that uncertainty around the pandemic forced them to push their traditional May start to an October date. In a statement from race director Brian Fitzgerald, he said they are "unable to obtain the necessary permits, confidently plan to be able to recruit staff and volunteers, and make the investments necessary to stage this event in Peninsula State Park.”

Despite the delay, race organizers are confident they can stage the race on October 30th. Runners already signed up for the 2021 half marathon and 5K do not have to do anything if they can run at the fall date. Otherwise, they can defer their entry to 2022 or they can transfer their entry to another runner for free. The full statement can be found below.
