Gamblers win wild one over Team USA in shootout

Two frantic periods and a long shootout later, the Green Bay Gamblers beat the Team USA U-18 squad 6-5 in front of over 2000 fans at the Resch Center Friday night.

Owen Murray scored halfway through the first period to spot the Gamblers a 1-0 lead. The two squads would combine for five total goals with Mason Lohrei, Ryan Greene, and Victor Mancini, finding the back of the net for the Gamblers. Mason Lohrei would score again in the third period, but Team USA would put up three goals including Dylan Duke's goal with less than two minutes remaining to force overtime. After a scoreless overtime, both teams went eight rounds in the shootout. Mason Lohrei was able to match Luke Hughes early on, but it was Kyler Grundy's tally in round eight that gave the Gamblers the victory.

The two teams will meet again Saturday night for a 7:05 p.m. puck drop.
