Phoenix women shocked in quarterfinals by Cleveland State

A furious comeback in the fourth quarter was not enough for the UWGB Phoenix women to overcome a huge first-half deficit in a 69-63 Horizon League quarterfinal at the Kress Center Tuesday night.  The Phoenix trailed by as much as 21 points and close within six points late, but the Vikings pulled off the upset by hitting free throws at the end.

It was the first time in 26 years that UWGB failed to make the semifinal round of the Horizon League tournament.

UWGB (15-7) was led by senior Caitlyn Hibner who scored 15 points while red-shirt freshman and Luxemburg-Casco alumnus Cassie Schiltz added 12.

Cleveland State (11-8) will now advance to the semifinals while the Phoenix will now wait to see if they are invited to the WNIT.
