Badgers hoops season ends

The Wisconsin Badgers fell behind early and could not rebound in its 76-63 loss to Baylor Sunday afternoon in the second round of the NCAA Tournament men's basketball tournament.

The Badgers turned the ball over nine times in the first half and watched the Bears convert those in 12 points on their way to a 42-29 halftime lead. The lead would be cut in half a few times in the game's second stanza, only to see the Bears capitalize on cold spells for the Badgers. D'Mitrik Trice led the Badgers with 12 points while Nathan Reuvers added 11 points. Two other Badgers reached double figures in the loss. The Bears had three players score at least 16 points, including 17 from Matthew Mayer.

The Badgers basketball team fell to 18-13 on the season. Badgers fans can now turn their attention to its hockey programs. One day after its women's program won its sixth national title, the men's team earned a top seed in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament and will play Bemidji State on Friday.
