For years, the Green Bay Packers management brass has been adamant about their refusal to give up a home football game. Now, with the NFL moving to a 17-game schedule this season, it is a guarantee that the storied franchise will be playing an international home game at least once in the next eight seasons. Packers CEO Mark Murphy said in a press conference yesterday that all NFC North teams will play an international game in the same season, either 2022, 2024, 2026, or 2028. When Green Bay does play internationally, they will give up a home game but will still host eight games at Lambeau Field. In years without playing an international contest, nine games will be held at Lambeau Field. The NFL has initially brought up London and Mexico City as sites for international games. These are two places that have hosted regular season football in the past. The NFL has also mentioned expanding international games to Canada, Europe, South America, and China.
