Volleyball preview: Sturgeon Bay battles Sevastopol ahead of tournament start

Two of the better teams in the Packerland Conference battle on Monday night ahead of the start of the WIAA Alternative Fall Season Tournament.

Both teams have had long layoffs in between matches thanks to spring break schedules. The Clippers are 6-3 and last won on March 22nd with a 3-0 sweep of Algoma. The Pioneers are 10-2 on the year and swept Southern Door its last time out on March 29th. Both teams have lost just once in conference play. The first serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.

There are several matches lined up this week ahead of the scheduled start of the WIAA Alternative Fall Season Tournament. On one side of the bracket, the first two rounds will be a Door County/Packerland Conference affair with Sevastopol battling Southern Door and Gibraltar playing Sturgeon Bay in Division 2. The winners will play a second time that same day for a chance to go to sectionals. In a different part of the bracket, Kewaunee and Algoma will face each other before potentially playing either Menominee Indian or Oneida Nation in the regional finals. The regional semis will start at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. with the championship taking place at 7 p.m.
