In their second of a three-game series against their divisional opponent on Saturday, the Milwaukee Brewers moved to 4-4 on the season with a 9-5 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. In the opening half inning in St. Louis, Travis Shaw hit an RBI single that would score Christian Yelich for the game’s first run. Christian Yelich would score again in the top of the fifth, on an Avisail Garcia two-run homerun. The Brewers would then lead 3-0 until the bottom of the sixth when the Cardinals would put up two, tightening Milwaukee’s lead.
Milwaukee would quickly answer in the top of the seventh with a five run inning. Avisail Garcia followed his fifth-inning home run with a seventh inning double which would score Jackie Bradley and Christian Yelich. Keston Hiura would have his first homer of the season in the top of the seventh, and Avisail Garcia and Omar Narvaez would each score on the blast. Milwaukee would carry a 8-2 lead until the top of the eighth. In the eighth inning, Avisail Garcia would draw a bases loaded walk, scoring Luis Urias to make it 9-2 Milwaukee out in front. The Cardinals would score three in the bottom of the eight inning and that would end the scoring.
Milwaukee will play St. Louis in Busch Stadium at 1:15 PM on Sunday.
