Clippers split invitational; Algoma suffers non-conference loss

Sturgeon Bay went 1-1 at the Chilton Invitational on Saturday. In the first game, Sturgeon Bay squared off against the tournament host and got a 4-2 victory. The Clippers would score three runs in the first inning and one run in the second inning. Chilton would also score two runs in the second inning, and the score would stay the same until the end. 

 

The Clippers’ 8-3 lead slipped away in their second game, which was against Manawa. The Clippers let up six runs in the bottom of the fifth to give Manawa the lead. Manawa would build on the lead, and eventually win the game over Sturgeon Bay, 14-8. With the loss, Sturgeon Bay is now 2-1 and will have a doubleheader with Sevastopol on Tuesday. 

 

Algoma lost their single game on Saturday at Roncali. The final score was 20 to 5 in five innings. Algoma will continue to chase their first victory of the season, as they are now 0-4 on the season. Their next game is against Peshtigo at home on Tuesday.
