Soccer round-up: Spartans, Clippers advance

Area teams went 2-1 Thursday evening in the opening round of the WIAA girls' soccer playoffs.

 

Luxemburg-Casco used a pair of Jillian Lynts goals and 10 saves by Tabi Lemens to secure a 3-1 win over Shawano. The Spartans will play Freedom at 10 a.m. Saturday.

 

Sturgeon Bay shut out Clintonville 7-0 while Sevastopol/Gibraltar saw their season end with a 2-1 loss to Roncalli. The Clippers will play Saturday at Wrightstown.
