State track releases heat sheets

The area's track athletes know where they stand heading into the state meet hosted at UW-LaCrosse this week.

The WIAA released the heat sheets over the weekend after Thursday's weather delayed the conclusion of a few of the sectional meets including two that featured schools from Door and Kewaunee counties.

In the Division 3 state meet on Thursday, Algoma's Bobbi Blahnik will continue the family tradition in the second flight of the discus competition. Gibraltar's Abbey Fitzgerald will compete against the state's best in the second flight of the long jump and the triple jump. The sectional champion Sevastopol Pioneers girls' team will have several members of its team competing on Thursday. That includes Bea Dramm in the 1600m finals, the 4x100m, 4x200m, and 4x400m relays in section two of the finals, Olivia Stenzel in the second section of the 400m finals and 800m finals, Laci Lautenbach in the high jump, and Zoe Kuehn in the first flight of the triple jump.  Spencer Evenson will also be competing for the Pioneers in the second section of the 400m finals

In the Division 2 state meet on Friday, John Larson is in the second heat of both of his hurdles events in the preliminary rounds. The Spartans 4 x200m relay is in the second section of the time finals. For Kewaunee, Kaaryn Smidel is in the second heat of the 300M hurdles. Southern Door's Hailey Shimon is in the second flight for discus. Lauren Alger and Cate Anderson will compete against each other in the second heat of the 100m hurdles.
