Shareholders meeting in the middle of a wild Green Bay day

Though it may have been quickly upstaged by the news that Aaron Rodgers will come back to the Green Bay Packers this season, the Packers organization held its annual shareholders meeting on Monday. Both General Manager Brian Gutekunst and Team President Mark Murphy addressed the Aaron Rodgers potential holdout situation shortly before news broke that he’d be returning to Green Bay this season, confirming their commitment to him.

Both commended the Packers players for the 2020 accomplishments and Gutekunst also acknowledged their off-season moves and pro-bowl players. Mark Murphy announced the Packers will honor their former General Manager Ted Thompson, who passed away in January. During the home opener against the Detroit Lions on September 20th, the Packers will install his name on the Lambeau Field facade. Murphy also announced that Lambeau Field is one of three finalists to host the 2024 NFL Draft and that Lambeau Field has put in bids to host multiple Big Ten Football conference championship games in the 2020’s. It was the first time since 2019 the Packers shareholders meeting was open to fans.
