Storms wrap up fishing tournament for many

As the final day of the Kewaunee/Door Salmon Fishing Tournament was overhauled at times due to strong rains and storms, a few still went until the final buzzer sounded. The storm tore through several ports but as the weather was safe some fishing boats headed back out onto the water. One highlight of Saturday was 14-year-old Derek Christoph catching the salmon of a lifetime. According to the Kewaunee Door Salmon Tournament Facebook page, the reel fell from the rod twice in a 45-minute battle. Christoph’s salmon was 40-inches long and weighed 30.9 lbs. It was caught at Baileys Harbor.

Final results from the tournament will be updated as soon as they are available to NEW Radio Sports and Door County Daily News.
