Packers turn 102

Like you, the Green Bay Packers have a birthday, which happens to be on Wednesday. The historic franchise celebrates August 11th of 1919 as their date of origin, making them 102 years old. The Packers were founded then by Curly Lambeau and George Calhoun and in 1921 they joined the American Professional Football Association. A decade after their 1919 birth, the Packers won their first of 13 championships in 1929. Even in the midst of training camp and preparation for Saturday’s preseason, the Packers social media team made sure to acknowledge the date. The birthday was also honored by Wisconsin’s Governor, Tony Evers on his official Facebook page.
