First week of area football wraps up Friday

The long awaited slate of week one games wrapped up on Friday with three 11-man teams from the peninsula starting their season.

Luxemburg-Casco coming off a strong 2020 season, routed Xavier in their 2021 season opener, 42-14.

Southern Door’s defense applied pressure on Oostburg all night and forced four turnovers while Jack Peterson delivered strikes and big runs from the quarterback position. The Eagles won 25-17.

Kewaunee fell in their season opener in overtime, 13-7 against Kiel.
