Packers Funchess likely out for season

For the second year in a row, the Green Bay Packers and fans will have to hold enthusiasm for the signing of wide receiver Devin Funchess. Going into his seventh season, Funchess injured his hamstring during joint practices with the New York Jets and has since been placed on injured reserve. That will end his season, unless he and the Packers reach an injury settlement, leaving him free to sign elsewhere during his recovery.

If Funchess misses the entire season, that will be the third straight in which he is out. In 2019, when Funchess was with the Indianapolis Colts, he broke his collarbone in the season opener and then he opted out of the 2020 season amidst the pandemic. Funchess signed with Green Bay last offseason, and caught six passes for 70 yards against Houston on August 14th. His best season came in 2017, when he hauled in 63 receptions for 840 yards.
