Elements affect Friday football; 8-man season opens

Most area teams were able to make it through the game without being held up by the elements on Friday, but Gibraltar was not so fortunate. Gibraltar will resume their game with White Lake-Elcho on The Goat 105.1 FM at 4 PM on Saturday. Gibraltar holds a 28-14 lead midway through the second quarter when the game resumes. It was tough sledding for other area 8-man teams as Sturgeon Bay fell 42-6 in Oakfield, Sevastopol dropped their opener in Wausaukee by a 30-6 final score and Algoma also put up just one score, losing 14-6 in Florence.

In 11-man action, both area teams in action pitched shutouts. Luxemburg-Casco had weather hold up their game but their offense and defense did not let up, winning 43-0 over Seymour. Southern Door took their show on the road to Ozaukee, where they won 27-0 and improved to 2-0 on the season.
