Brewers coronation delayed in Detroit

The Milwaukee Brewers' eventual celebration of an NL Central title will have to wait until deeper into its series against the Chicago Cubs after getting swept in a brief two-game series against the Detroit Tigers.

An RBI double by Lorenzo Cain in the second inning was all the Brewers could muster against the Tigers in its 4-1 matinee loss on Wednesday. The Tigers would tie the game two innings later on an RBI double by Miguel Cabrera. They would end starter Brandon Woodruff's day after driving in a pair in the fifth inning and Dustin Garneau homered in the seventh.

The Brewers will have Thursday off before looking to clinch against the Cubs at American Family Field on Friday. The magic number is down to three after the Pirates took the first two games of their series against the Cincinnati Reds.
