Sevastopol football downed in weekend matchup

Being the lone area team to play a football game this Saturday, Sevastopol had a tough showing against Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas, losing 45-6. Lena/STA had just an 8-0 lead after the first quarter, but the doors were blown open in the second frame, when the Pioneers were outscored 22-0. Sevastopol was down 30-0 at halftime.

In the third quarter, the deficit increased to 45-0 before Sevastopol finally got on the board in the fourth quarter. Emmett Tomaszewski scored the single touchdown for the Pioneers, on a 3-yard run.

The loss drops the Pioneers record to 1-4 overall this season and their next game will be on Friday at home against Gillett.
