Clippers soccer starts slow but finished strong against De Pere on 96.7 WBDK

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers Soccer traveled to De Pere High School for a Division One battle with the Redbirds and were able to leave with a 3-2 victory.

Valenzuela struck first for the Redbirds in the 11th minute. Then Isaac Schulz was able to connect on a Spencer Hubbard corner kick, leveling the score 1-1 in the 20th minute. After halftime, Robert Alas put the Clippers ahead in the 52nd minute on a cross from Porter Gigstead. De Pere wasn’t done as Valenzuela tied the score in the 57th minute with his second of the game. Two minutes later, Alas was able to break down the Redbirds’ defense and put away his second of the game giving the Clippers a 3-2 lead in the 59th minute and that’s where the final score would hold with the Clippers leaving Cloud Family Field with the victory.

Sturgeon Bay returns to Packerland play Thursday against Sheboygan Falls.

Other local soccer scores include Kewaunee falling to Roncalli 10-0. No score was reported for Luxemburg-Casco's match at New Holstein. The Algoma vs. Gibraltar/Sevastopol match scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed.
