Wisconsin blanks Illinois 24-0

The Wisconsin Badgers got back on the winning track on Saturday with a 24-0 shutout of the Illinois Illini in Champaign.  Playing against former Coach Bret Bielema, the Badgers rolled over the Illini with a dominant running game.

Leading 10-0 at halftime, the Badgers put two more scores on the board in the third quarter to put the game away.

Rushing for 391 yards, the Badgers reestablished the running attack they have struggled with most of this year.

Running Back Chez Melusi led the way with 146 yards on 21 carries and one touchdown.  Braelon Allen added 131 yards on 18 carries and one score as well.

Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz completed 10 of 19 passes for 100 yards.

The Badger defense contained the Illini offense all day, limiting the Illinois offense to just 93 yards.

Wisconsin (1-2, 2-3 overall) will now return home to play next Saturday night against Army with kickoff set for 7pm.
