Clipper soccer season ends with 3-1 overtime loss on 96.7 WBDK

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers could not overcome two overtime goals by the Sheboygan Christian/Sheboygan Lutheran Saturday in a Division 4 sectional final at Kiel High School, falling to the Eagles 3-1.

The Clippers did strike first with a goal by Gavin Fernandez at the 19-minute mark.  Sheboygan Christian Lutheran responded with second half goal at the 63-minute mark as Caleb Hendrikse found the back of the net to tie the game.

The Clippers had a rare shot on goal in the waning seconds of regulation but could not convert for a last-second goal.

In the overtime, Hendrikse left little doubt of the outcome as he hit a goal at the 87-mark and and another at the 89-mark to seal the victory for the Eagles and complete his hat trick.

Goalie Joey Wind had a solid game in the net, making numerous saves for the Clippers but the offense could not muster enough of an attack to put pressure on the Eagle defense.

The Clippers' successful season came to an end as they simply ran of gas and time.
