The three-peat is complete. The Luxemburg-Casco Spartan volleyball team captured the WIAA Division 2 championship on Saturday afternoon, defeating the McFarland Spartans three sets to one at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
L-C won their third consecutive state title with scores of 25-17, 25-15, 27-29, and 25-15.
The first set saw a close, back-and-forth scoring until L-C took control at 19-13 and finished strong. In the second set, the Spartans were trailing 12-15 before going on an impressive 13-0 run to take a two sets to none lead.
Luxemburg-Casco lost the marathon third set, but did storm back from a 23-17 deficit before McFarland closed it out 27-29 in an extra session. The momentum from that near-miraculous comeback seemed to carry over to set four for Luxemburg-Casco.
The L-C Spartans seized control early in the final set by taking a commanding 14-7 lead early before closing out the championship with a Kylie Hanson kill.
Grace Holschuh led Luxemburg-Casco with 23 kills and 11 digs. Autumn Flynn added 14 kills, while Emma Johnson provided a strong floor game with 48 assists and 12 digs.
Luxemburg-Casco (42-5) becomes only the tenth school in WIAA volleyball history to ever win three consecutive state championships.
