Second Native American Tribe gets sports gambling approved

It has been nearly a month since Oneida Casino welcomed sports betting at their airport location as part of their casino offerings. By doing so, Oneida Casino has seemingly set a precedent for other casinos around the state of Wisconsin. On Monday Governor Tony Evers announced an agreement with the St. Croix Chippewa tribe to allow a new sports betting facility at its casino in Turtle Lake. Governor Evers stated that the agreement will “bring new opportunities for employment and revenue growth to the tribe, and provide a welcome boost to our recovering tourism and entertainment industries.” Tribal Chairman William Reynolds says the agreement will “give our tribe the ability to offer our customers the most comprehensive gaming experience.” The next step in the process is a 45 day review by the U.S Department of Interior, but that review is expected to be approved and the tribe says it has already begun working on the new sportsbook.
