Packers D grinchy, steal Christmas game from Browns

Aaron Rodgers' record-setting performance almost was not enough as the Green Bay Packers outlasted the Cleveland Browns 24-22 on Christmas afternoon.

The afternoon got off to a rocky start for the Packers as the Browns scored on their first possession and their defense forced a turnover on downs. The Packers would intercept Baker Mayfield on their very next possession which turned into a history-making drive for Rodgers. An 11-yard pass to Allen Lazard turned into Rodgers' 423rd touchdown pass, giving him the most in franchise history. The Packers' defense would intercept Mayfield again, setting up the next record-breaking score when Rodgers found Davante Adams for a nine-yard score. That gave them the most amount of touchdowns for a QB/WR duo in franchise history. After the Browns scored a touchdown on their fourth possession, the Packers would end the half with a second touchdown pass to Adams to give them a 21-12 advantage at halftime.

The Packers would open the half with a field goal and would be held to three punts the rest of the half. The Browns would make it interesting the second half, kicking a field goal and Mayfield throwing his second touchdown of the game to make it 24-22. They would have one more opportunity to win the game, but the Packers' Rasul Douglas picked off his second pass of the game to seal the Christmas Day victory. The Packers' defense gave up more than 400 yards of total offense including over 200 yards of rushing, but their four interceptions proved to be enough to hold on for the victory.

The Packers will end the home slate of their schedule next Sunday night when they host the Minnesota Vikings.
