Eagles sink Clippers on 104.1 WRLU

The Southern Door Eagle boys’ basketball team defeated the Sturgeon Bay Clippers in a Packerland Conference matchup on Tuesday night. The Eagles took the double digit lead early and never looked back winning by a score of 72-40.

Southern Door opened up a double digit lead early in the first half and carried a 37-18 lead into halftime.

The Clippers showed a little resistance early in the second half, but the Eagles overcame that run and added more to their lead courtesy of Sturgeon Bay turnovers.

Sturgeon Bay was never able to cut that deficit below the 15 point mark, which helped Southern Door win the cross-county rivalry.

Freshman Drew Daoust led the Eagles with 24 points with 15 of those points coming in the second half, Jack Peterson and Taylor Schaefer were the other two starters for the Eagles who were in double digits with 10 points, and Nic Pierre added 10 off the bench for Southern Door.

The Clippers were led by Danny Lodl who had 17 points, and Chris Lodl was the only other Clipper in double figures with 10 points.

Southern Door (4-6) will next be in action on Saturday January 8th as they host the Algoma Wolves, and Sturgeon Bay (1-7) will next be in action on Thursday January 6th as they travel to face off against Green Bay East.
