Friday girls' basketball preview: Packerland matchups fill Friday night slate, Spartans host Marinette

There are multiple Packerland Conference matchups taking place in high school girls’ basketball on Friday night, and in North Eastern Conference play the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans will host Marinette. 

 

LC/Marinette - The Luxemburg-Casco girls’ basketball team is looking to avoid their third straight loss as they host Marinette on Friday January 7th. The Spartans are led by Taylor Thiry who is averaging 17 points per game, and Lauren Adams who is averaging 12 points per game. As for Marinette, they enter this contest winners in their last game beating Clintonville 41-38. Marinette is being led by Hannah Chenier who is averaging 8 points per game. Tip is set for 7:00 p.m. from Luxemburg-Casco High School. 


 

Algoma/Sturgeon Bay - In the first Packerland matchup of the night, Algoma travels to Sturgeon Bay to take on the Clippers. Algoma beat Southern Door in their previous matchup by a score of 53-48. The Wolves have one player averaging double figures on the year with Ryley Zimmerman averaging 10 points per game. As for the Clippers, they have lost their first 8 games of the season, and are looking to pick up what seems to be an elusive first win. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. from Sturgeon Bay High School. 


 

Gibraltar/Southern Door - The Gibraltar girls’ basketball team will travel to Southern Door to take on the Eagles. Gibraltar has lost their first 8 matchups on the season, and are looking to gain some momentum and get in the win column vs. Southern Door. Colleen Carlisle and Andie Schar are leading the Vikings averaging 7 points per game each. As for the Eagles, they lost their last contest to Algoma 53-48. Before that game, they had won two back to back matchups vs. Wausaukee and Sturgeon Bay. The Eagles are led by Kendra Shimon who is averaging 11 points per game. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. from Southern Door High School. 



Kewaunee/Sevastopol - The Kewaunee girls’ basketball team will travel to Sevastopol to take on the Pioneers on Friday night. Kewaunee is looking to win their third straight game, beating Sturgeon Bay and Peshtigo in their last two contests. Kewaunee has gotten big offensive production all season from Mykenzi Uhlers and Taylor Schleis who are averaging 13 and 11 points per game respectively. As for the Pioneers, they have won 5 straight games and are looking to make it 6 with a win over the Storm. Sevastopol is led by Naomi Rikkola who is averaging 14 points per game, and Bailey Rikkola who is averaging 13 points per game. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. from Sevastopol High School.
