Vikings boys tame Wolves, look to put out Blazers on 105.1 The GOAT

Three players reached double figures and two others were a basket away in Gibraltar's 61-50 win over Algoma Thursday.

 

The Vikings charged ahead with a 30-23 lead at halftime and were able to hold off the Wolves in the second half from eating away at their advantage. The Wolves were able to stay in the game thanks to three-point shooting, hitting nine on the evening compared to five for the Vikings. Sam Lindenberg and Trevor Ash each scored 13 points in the victory and Bela Salm added 10. Will Friedenfels (9) and Jake Schar (8) were also within a basket of scoring in double figures. Carter Zimmerman led the Wolves with 20 points, nine of which came from behind the arc.

 

The Vikings head to Green Bay Friday night to face NEW Lutheran in the second of a Packerland Conference back-to-back stretch. Ranked #4 in the state in Division 5, the Blazers sit on top of the conference with a 9-1 mark in the Packerland and 14-2 overall record.  Tristian Lynch, Elijah Meerstein, and Lucas Dhein are all averaging at least 13 points per game. They also beat Algoma in their last game in a 76-64 decision that saw them pull away in the second half.

 

Tim Kowols and Brian Buntman will have the call on 105.1 The GOAT beginning at 7 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the opening tip at 7:30 p.m.

 

In other Thursday night action, Luxemburg-Casco blew out Oconto Falls 81-59. Friday's action includes Southern Door traveling to Sevastopol on 103.3 The Clipper, Sturgeon Bay visiting Peshtigo,  and Algoma playing at Oconto.
