Phoenix women pick up big double OT win, men hit road again

For the first time in 45 days, the Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team was able to walk off of Carol's Court with a victory, even if it took them a while to do it.

The Phoenix women prevailed in double OT over Horizon League-leading Youngstown State 70-69. The Penguins could never extend their two-point lead after one quarter of play despite holding a 12-4 lead at one point. Reigning player of the week Hailey Oskey tied the game with a pair of free throws to force the extra frame for the Phoenix. The Penguins charged out in double OT to lead 69-64 only to see the Phoenix end the game on a 6-0 run to capture the win. Oskey ended the game with 14 points while Luxemburg-Casco product Cassie Schiltz added 13 points and six rebounds. They are back in action for a Saturday matinee against Robert Morris at 6 p.m.

The Phoenix men will look to reverse their road game fortunes when they travel to Cleveland State on Friday. The team is winless away from Titletown this year, including their close 62-60 loss to Robert Morris in their last game. The Phoenix is looking for a player to step up offensively after Donovan Ivory, their leading scorer, was dismissed from the team. Their game begins at 6 p.m.
