Clippers fall to Eagles in Packerland rivalry on 104.1 WRLU

The Sturgeon Bay boys’ basketball team traveled to Southern Door on Thursday night to take on the Eagles in a Packerland Conference battle.

The Clippers got out to a hot start taking a 9-3 lead on the Eagles before both teams would get hot offensively. Preston Newton caught fire for the Clippers hitting four first-half threes on his way to scoring 16 first-half points after only having 4 in their first meeting. Drew Daoust was able to one-up that as he had 18 at the halftime break and was perfect from the charity stripe.

Southern Door would go on a run at the start of the second half and that would be enough to seal the victory for the Eagles on Senior night by a final score of 63-51. Drew Daoust led the Eagles with 30 points and Taylor Schaefer added 10.

Preston Newton led the Clippers with 17 and Chris Lodl added 11. The Clippers will next be in action on the road against Iola-Scandinavia.
