Phoenix women keep winning streak alive against Oakland

The Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team is getting hot at the right time as they beat Oakland 60-57 in Michigan Thursday night.

For the third time in four games, the Phoenix were locked in a tight game down the stretch with neither team able to build a big lead. They did see a 12 point lead almost disappear before Maddy Schreiber's layup and free throws made by Meghan Pingel put the game out of reach for the Golden Grizzlies. Hailey Oskey scored 18 points for the Phoenix while Jasmine Kondrakiewicz and Bailey Butler each chipped in eight points in the victory. They travel to Detroit to face the Titans on Saturday.

In other Phoenix action, the men will try their luck again Friday night when they host Northern Kentucky. They lost earlier this week to Wright State 79-62. The Norse have won six of their last seven games as they have charged up to fourth place in the Horizon League. The tip is set for 7 p.m. at the Kress Events Center.
