Brewers spring training likely delayed

The Milwaukee Brewers are supposed to be having their pitchers and catchers report on Wednesday, but that is likely not going to happen.

MLB officials met with the players' union over the weekend with their counter-offer. According to The Athletic's Evan Drellich and ESPN's Jesse Rogers, the offer included increases to the bonus pool for pre-arbitration players, the minimum salary, and the competitive balance tax thresholds. The MLBPA reportedly walked away from the negotiations "unimpressed."

MLB did not announce that spring training would be delayed but pitchers and catchers were scheduled to report this week with all other players heading to either Arizona or Florida next week. With an estimated four weeks required for players to properly get ready for the season, a delay to the regular season could be next.

The Brewers for their part are still planning to start the season on time, which includes their spring training opener on February 26th against the Los Angeles Angels and their Arctic Tailgate at American Family Field. Opening Day is set for March 31st against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
