Kewaunee storms past Southern Door in second half on 104.1 WRLU

A combination of chaos on the defensive end and a strong inside game led Kewaunee past Southern Door Monday night in a 61-40 win.

The two teams could not get into an offensive groove with the Storm blitzing passing lanes and the Eagles altering shots to that point that neither squad could get on the scoreboard at a consistent clip. The Eagles could not capitalize on the early foul trouble by the Storm, who would go on a run late in the first half to take a 26-18 lead into the locker room.

The defense came out in force in the second half for the Storm, frustrating the Eagles' offense as they turned several steals into easy buckets. The Eagles would get it into single digits about halfway through the second half, but the offense would stall after that while Cameron Cullen and Ben Heim would combine for 18 of their 28 to put the Storm in the driver's seat. Cullen and Heim each had 14 points while Sawyer Pribek added 10 points. Taylor Schaefer led the Eagles with 12 points, securing many of his buckets after offensive rebounds. Drew Daoust added 10 points in the loss.

The Storm remains a half-game behind Peshtigo in the Packerland Conference standings after the Bulldogs hung on to beat Peshtigo 83-78.

Other Packerland Conference scores include Gibraltar beating Sturgeon Bay 71-45 on 105.1 The GOAT, Sevastopol losing to NEW Lutheran 78-39, and Algoma beating Gresham 73-51.
