Notre Dame blitz Luxemburg-Casco on 96.7 WBDK

The  #8 seeded Luxemburg-Casco girls could not find an answer to the full-court press by #1 Notre Dame Friday night, falling to the Tritons 74-17 in Division 2 regional semi-final action in Green Bay.

The suffocating pressure by Notre Dame caused numerous turnovers leading the Tritons to a stunning 22-0 lead before the Lady Spartans could get on the board with 11:25 left in the half.

The Tritons kept up the full-court pressure throughout the half and built an insurmountable 52-3 at intermission with the Spartans only managing a basket by Taylor Thiry and a free throw by Lily Giese.

Thiry and Lauren Adams each scored seven points in the second half, with Thiry pacing the Spartans with nine points.

The Tritons were led by Sarah Hardwick with 22 points and Trista Fayta with 18 points.

Luxemburg-Casco finishes the season (12-14) with both Thiry and Adams eclipsing the 1,000 mark in career points during the season.

Notre Dame (24-1) now will advance to the regional final Saturday night as they look to repeat as state champs in Division 2.

Other games of local note included Sevastopol being nipped by Lourdes Academy 40-39, Kewaunee falling to Oostburg 55-47, and Algoma losing to St. Mary Catholic 59-24.
