Phoenix men look to extend season at Detroit

The Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team looks for a chance at a berth in the NCAA Tournament when they begin the Horizon League Tournament Tuesday night at Detroit-Mercy.

The Phoenix captured their first road victory of the season on Tuesday at IUPUI when it beat a short-handed Jaguars team 67-41. It was just the fourth Horizon League win for the Phoenix this season and their fifth victory overall in 29 contests. The Phoenix did receive some good news on Monday when Cade Meyer and Kamari McGee were both named to the All-Freshman team in the Horizon League.

The Titans boast the league's best scorer in Antoine Davis at 23.7 points per game as they come into the tournament as the six-seed.

The two teams only played once this year due to COVID-19 protocols. The Phoenix bested the Titans in their matchup at the Resch Center. Meyer scored 16 points and grabbed five rebounds in a 70-63 victory for the Phoenix. Prior to Saturday, that was the last time the Phoenix had won a game.

Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m.
