Phoenix women look to extend their season against Milwaukee

Avenging a loss late last month to the Milwaukee Panthers will not only give the Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team bragging rights for the offseason but also send them packing to Indianapolis.

The two teams meet at the Kress Events Center Thursday night for the Horizon League Tournament Quarterfinals after the Panthers won their first matchup against UIC on Tuesday. The two teams had their first matchups postponed due to COVID. The Phoenix won the first rescheduled contest in Green Bay 65-56 while the Panthers stormed their way back from a double-digit deficit to capture the second game 50-48 in Milwaukee. The game tips off at 7 p.m. with the winner will play in the semifinals on Monday when the tournament switches its scenery to the Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis.

The Phoenix men already had their season conclude on Tuesday when it lost to Detroit on the road 79-62. Antoine Davis cut up the Phoenix defense with 38 points on the night to give the Titans a 12-point halftime lead that they would not give up. Cade Meyer and Kamari McGee finished their All-Freshman Team seasons with two and 20 points respectively. Manny Ansong scored 11 points in the loss.  Its 25 losses is the most they have had in a single season in program history.
