Phoenix women pound Panthers

The Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team said goodbye to the Kress Events Center for the season in impressive fashion on Thursday as they beat Milwaukee 57-42 in the Horizon League Tournament quarterfinals.

The Phoenix outscored the visiting Panthers in each of the first three quarters, entering halftime with a 30-20 advantage. A 13-2 Phoenix run in the third quarter proved to be a backbreaker for the Panthers, who was trying to steal a second straight game against Green Bay.

Luxemburg-Casco product Cassie Schiltz turned in a team-high 14 points and Julia Hartwig added 11 points in the victory. The Phoenix improved 13-2 since the ball dropped in Times Square as they will now head to Indianapolis to face Cleveland State in the Horizon League Tournament Semifinals on Monday. That game will take place at 1:30 p.m.
