Phoenix women open Indy play against Cleveland State

The Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team is two wins away from adding another banner to its rafters, but it has to first beat Cleveland State Monday afternoon.

The Vikings stunned the Phoenix in the first round of last year's Horizon League Tournament and only lost by two in the two squads' only meeting this year two weeks ago. The Phoenix earned their spot in the league semifinals by dominating Milwaukee while the Vikings toppled Northern Kentucky in their quarterfinal matchup.

The Phoenix are hoping to improve their 23-4 record in Horizon League tournament play, which includes winning championships in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.

If the Phoenix win, they will play the winner of IUPUI and Oakland, which plays before them. The Phoenix and Vikings tip-off at 1:30 p.m.
