Wisconsin, Marquette make NCAA field

Both of Wisconsin's major college basketball programs got invites to the Big Dance on Sunday.

Despite being one and done in the Big Ten Tournament and sharing the regular-season crown with Illinois, the Wisconsin Badgers were rewarded with virtual home games in the opening round. The third-seeded Badgers will open the tournament against 14-seed Colgate at the Fiserv Forum. They would have either LSU or Iowa State lurking in the second round if the Badgers beat the Patriot League champions in their first matchup.

Marquette secured a nine-seed in the tournament field despite being one and done in the Big East Tournament. They will face North Carolina in Fort Worth, Texas on Thursday. The winner will likely face the top-seeded Baylor Bears in the second round.

No state teams qualified for the Women's NCAA Tournament. Marquette and Green Bay were placed in the WNIT field. For the Phoenix, it will be their first time in the WNIT since the 2018-19 season, and just the sixth time in program history. They will learn more about their matchup at 1 p.m. Monday.
