Wisconsin falters against Iowa State in second round exit

Not even a heavily partisan crowd could will the Wisconsin Badgers to victory as they lost to Iowa State 54-49.

The Fiserv Forum was mostly Cardinal and White clad, but an injury to freshman phenom Chucky Hepburn seemed to take the wind out of their sails and with that, the team's as well. His injury happened with just over four minutes in the first half when the Badgers were hosting a slim lead. The Cyclones would take the lead on a buzzer-beater to end the first half and only extended it further in the second half.

The Badgers shot under 30 percent from the field on Sunday, including going 2 for 22 from behind the arc. Johnny Davis scored 17 points, but most of that came from the free-throw line as was 0-7 from behind the arc and just 4 for 16 from the field. Brad Davison finished his lengthy college career with 12 points. Gabe Kalscheur paced the Cyclones with 22 points while Izaiah Brockington chipped in another 10 points.

It was the second straight year the Badgers exited in the second round, last year falling to Baylor.
