Brewers drop second straight spring game against Reds

A five-run eighth inning prevented the Milwaukee Brewers from getting back in the W column with a 12-8 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.

The Reds started hot offensively as well, touching up Brewers ace for five runs in three innings and J.C. Meija for another two runs in the fourth inning. Keston Hiura and Tyrone Taylor helped keep things close with each hitting a home run and an additional RBI knock. The comeback started for the Reds in the eighth inning when Ronnie Dawson tied the game on a RBI sac fly and Elly De La Cruz hit a grand slam to make it 12-8. Brad Boxberger took the blown save and the loss for the Brewers.

The Brewers are back in action Thursday as they play the Arizona Diamondbacks in Maryvale at 3:10 p.m.
