Late field goal dooms Blizzard again

A blocked field goal return for a touchdown at the end of the half loomed large at the end of the night as the Green Bay Blizzard fell late to the Frisco Fighters 38-36.

After a scoreless first quarter, the two teams traded offensive scores with Shaquan Curenton's 21-yard touchdown grab smushed between two Fighters scores. The Fighters would have one more trick up their sleeve when they blocked a Nick Jaworski field goal and took it 45 yards to make it 21-7 at the break.

The Blizzard would outscore the Fighters the rest of way with Jack Sheehan throwing four of his five touchdown passes after the break. The highlight of the scores was a 43-yard throw and catch to Keshaun Taylor, who was able to evade tacklers after falling to the ground. Taylor's three-yard touchdown grab gave the Blizzard a slim one-point lead with 17 seconds remaining. The Blizzard would not be able to squeeze in for the two-point conversion and a poor kick by Jaworski set up the game-winning field goal for the Fighters as time expired. It was the second walk-off field goal given up by the Blizzard this season.

The Blizzard are back at home Saturday when they host the Massachusetts Pirates at 6:05 p.m. Saturday.
