Sevastopol softball slugs past Goodman/Pembine

An 11-run third inning ended the day early for the Sevastopol softball team 17-0 after just three innings of play against Goodman-Pembine.

The Pioneers scored six runs before the big rally thanks to RBI from Jolene Luedtke and Samantha Differt in the first inning and Naomi Rikkola, Johanna Andreae, and Kristin Daubner in the second inning. Tegan Ellefson delivered the big blow in the decisive third inning with a three-run homer while Libby Ash, Kayla Ranly, Rikkola, Andreae, Luedtke, and Daubner also forced in runs from the plate. Ash sparkled on the mound, limiting Goodman-Pembine to just one hit across three innings while striking out five.

The baseball team did not fare as well against Goodman-Pembine as they fell 8-3. It was tied 3-3 after four innings of play with Nick Peterson and Frankie Ash knocking in the runs in the third inning and a wild pitch occurring while Reece Lauder was at the plate. Goodman-Pembine would score the next five runs, aided in part by four errors by the Pioneers.  Ash was the hard-luck pitcher for the Pioneers, giving up eight runs on six hits, but only two of those runs were earned across 5 1/3 innings of work. He also had four strikeouts in the game.
