Brewers earn split against Cardinals

The Milwaukee Brewers' bats came alive in their series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals to win 6-5.

The Brewers set the tone early when Aaron Ashby got out of a bases-loaded jam in the first inning with two strikeouts before they plated three runs in the bottom half of the inning thanks to RBI from Andrew McCutchen, Rowdy Tellez, and Keston Hiura. After Albert Pujols tied the game up in the third inning on a three-run homer, the Brewers would retake the lead an inning later on a bases-loaded walk drawn by Willy Adames. Tyrone Taylor delivered the big blow for the Brewers in the seventh inning with a two-run double to make the lead 6-3. The Cardinals would peck away at the lead in the eighth inning with two runs, but Josh Hader shut the door in the ninth to secure his fourth save of the season, securing the win for Jake Cousins.

The Brewers will stay at home Monday to welcome the Pittsburgh Pirates to American Family Field for a 6:40 p.m. start..
