Some early errors for Washington Island helped Sister Bay celebrate a 6-1 victory Sunday afternoon.
The Islanders' Alex Johnson drove in the first run of the game with an RBI base hit. It would end up being the Islanders' only run on the afternoon.
Spencer Krause's sacrifice fly brought in the first run for the Bays in the second inning. Stu Larson knocked in two Bays with a triple in the fourth inning, and Matt Fransciecovi benefited from a two-base error to bring in a run. A second error off the bat of Dustin Johnson also scored a run for the bays.
Tom Sawyer would have the play of the day in the bottom of the seventh with a huge hit out to right field that drove in a pair of Bays and left him standing at third with a triple.
Sam Forkert pitched a complete game for the Bays, allowing the single tally to the visiting Islanders. Both teams are now 2-1 on the season.
Other Door County Baseball League action includes Luke Steebs and Derek Niedzwiecki leading West Jacksonport past Institute 6-0, Kolberg shutout Egg Harbor 13-0, and Maplewood toppled Baileys Harbor 9-2.
