Several track athletes qualify for state meet

Several local athletes will make their way to LaCrosse next weekend after qualifying for the state meet at Thursday's sectionals.

 

Ben Heim leapt to a personal record in the triple jump to finish in the top four, punching his ticket to LaCrosse. Lisa Reinke did the same in the discus as she finished in the top three for shot put and discus to qualify for state. Isaac Schlies saved his best performance in the 300m hurdles for the sectional meet, qualifying with a third place finish.

 

Competing at the Division 3 Sectional meet in Rosholt Thursday, Algoma's Logan Borths set personal records in the 100m, 400m, 800m, and shot put to qualify for the state meet with two first-place finishes and two second-place finishes in the wheelchair division.

 

For Luxemburg-Casco, Logan Vandermause responded to an eight-place finish in his 200m dash with a personal record to qualify for state with a third place finish. John Larson also had a personal record in the 300m to win the event while a second personal best helped in qualify in the 110m hurdles. George Herlache, Taylor Thiry, and Grace Holschuh used personal records in their respective events to punch tickets to LaCrosse. The boys 4x200m and Isaac Vandenbush will also be heading to state track meet by finishing in the top four of their events. 

 

Sevastopol's Kylee Duessler qualified for the trip to LaCrosse with a third-place finish in the 100m and a personal record in the 200m that was also good for a third-place finish.

 

Sturgeon Bay's Cate Anderson finished in second place in her preliminary and final heats of the 100m hurdles to punch her ticket to the state meet next weekend in LaCrosse.
